      The article discusses proposals for the meaning of music. A cognivist answer is defended by the author to the question on what is the point of music as an art. The author explains that as cognitivism about art, in its most general form, is the view that the point of art is the production of some kind of cognitive state in the audience, cognitivism about music as an art is to place the audience in a position of being right about the world as one is attuned to the world.
