      An interview with 29-year-old novelist Tao Lin in 2013 is presented. When asked on when he was last supported by his family, he replies that they shouldered his college studies and gave him money for Christmas and expenses. Lin states that he expected his 50,000-dollar advance for his book "Taipei" because prior to this, he did not have an agent and was published at a small press. He recalls that he cried when his ex-girlfriend texted him on how much she liked his present to her.
