      The article presents information on American Public Health Association (APHA) Governing Council, boards committees, section councils and affiliates for 1997. Through their donated talents and time, the members listed to the Association and those who work with them on behalf of the Association, provide the vital leadership of APHA. Members of boards, certain committees and other units are appointed by the Executive Board after seeking suggestions from sections, affiliates, SPIGs, caucuses and the membership at large of the Association, section offices and representatives on the Governing Council are elected by those members holding primary affiliation in that particular section. Representatives on the Governing Council from affiliated association are elected by the members of the respective affiliated associations. The Executive Board and Association officers are elected by the members of the Governing Council. Hence, Persons elected to these units have been suggested and selected by their peers. It is hoped that all members will use this directory as an aid in notifying the appropriate members of their views on specific issues.
