    • Abstract:
The article discusses the life expectancy of elephants confined to zoos. The shorter life expectancy of zoo elephants by comparison to their wild counterparts is noted, mentioning that zoo-confined elephants also suffer from higher rates of infant mortality. The possibility that the data may not reflect improvements to the treatment of animals in zoos in the late 2000s is also noted.
