      This article reports that researchers following evidence of chicken skeletons say that Polynesian seafarers reached Chile about 620 years ago. This goes against the popular belief that the Incas left South America for Polynesia by raft. The discovery of a chicken bone unearthed at Chile's El Arenal site showed it to have ancient DNA that determined a Polynesian origin.
