      An essay on an American woman named Melissa Carrasquillo who underwent semester-long reading program in Massachusetts called Changing Lives Through Literature (CTL) is presented. Topics include CTL as a condition of Carrasquillo's three-year probation sentence, CTL's founders including U.S. Judge Robert Kane and University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Professor Robert Waxler, and the power of literature to transform with the process of reading leading to reflection.
