    • Abstract:
An essay is presented on foreign competition for movie and television roles faced by American actors under 40 years of age. According to the author, British actors have become more skilled at imitating American accents. It is suggested that American actors are less likely to go through rigorous training programs and instead begin work as children on commercials or other less-demanding roles. Theater culture in the U.S. and Great Britain is also discussed.
