      Eliade examined the phenomena of diverse religious experiences, drawing upon similarities within each. By looking at individual, sociopsychological manifestations against the “terror of history” in the twentieth century and expressing these in modes conditioned by his own spirituality and imagination, Eliade sought to say what makes religion universal.
