      The article attempts to grapple with the complexities of the relationships, both sexual and non-sexual, between inmates and staff members at the Allegheny County Jail, especially during the period of 2003-2005. It mentions that the author Didi Herman argues that most representations of women prisoners in fi lm and television, and most analyses of these representations, privilege heterosexuality vis-à-vis situational lesbianism and the trope of the masculine criminal.
