Samuel Beckett's dramatic works provide a wealth of dramatic modes of writing, among which several silent plays have significant theatrical potentiality, such as Act Without Words I (1956) and Quad (1980). The former exhibits an open structure which allows for multiple interpretations in theatrical contexts, as well as through other performing arts forms. At the beginning of the XXIth century, this was illustrated effectively by two recent productions : François Lazaro's (2007) puppeteering version, and Dominique Dupuy's multi-faceted choreography (2013), which draws on dance and circus arts. Each of these two artists, in their own way and language, thus managed to renew our perception of Beckett's first Act Without Words , emphasizing its essential hybridity as well as its immense plasticity.
