The article features writer and director Mahamat-Saleh Haroun and his film "Lingui, the Sacred Bonds" about a single mother who helped her teenage daughter arrange an abortion in Chad. The director studied filmmaking in France before returning to Chad to shoot five out of his six feature films. Among his films that competed at the Cannes Film Festival are "A Screaming Man" in 2010, "Grigris" in 2013 and the new film. He explains the significance of the public indifference to cinema in Chad.
