      This article presents a research guide to the life and works of author Reynolds Price. Born Edward Reynolds Price on February 1, 1933, in Macon, North Carolina, the elder of two sons to William Solomon Price, an appliance salesman, and Elizabeth Rodwell Price, a housewife; family loses its home during the Great Depression; 1951 graduates from Needham Broughton High School, Raleigh, North Carolina and enters Duke University; 1955 receives bachelor's degree in English summa cure laude from Duke; 1955-1958 Rhodes Scholar at Merton College, Oxford University, completing his bachelor's of literature thesis on John Milton and producing several pieces of short fiction; 1958 begins teaching English literature and writing at Duke University.
