    • Abstract:
This article features Brian Jacques, a novelist specializing in children's literature. Born on June 15, 1939 in Liverpool, England, Jacques is the child of Irish Catholic parents who immigrated to England before he was born. At age ten, he wrote his first animal fantasy in school; his teacher accused him of plagiarism because it was so well written. Jacques's stories are about anthropomorphized animals, set in and around medieval Redwall Abbey. He tries to tell a good story with clear moral values.
