    • Abstract:
An essay on the importance of Christianity in Jane Austen's works is presented. Sarah Arthur's "Dating Mr. Darcy: A Smart Girl's Guide to Sensible Romance" used Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" as a touchstone. Debra White Smith's "What Jane Austen Taught Me About Love and Romance" uses the moral dilemmas of Austen's characters to those encountered by contemporary evangelicals. Smith's "Austen Series" also views Austen's works as a present-day romance with characters of faith. Austen's relationship to Evangelical and didactic novelists is also discussed.
