      The author discusses the Arabic publishing industry in the Middle East. He notes the minimal book trade in Egypt, the lack of copyright laws in Syria and the publishing of anti-Zionist and anti-American literature. He suggests that population growth in Abu Dhabi may create a market for books exported from Great Britain but that low reading levels will limit the growth of the Arabic book trade.
