    • Abstract:
Presents an interview with American writer Gary Indiana. When asked about the difference between the treatment of writers by editors and publishers in 2000 and 2010, he cites an essay by Hans Magnus Enzensberg on the consciousness industry. Indiana believes that the U.S. has dominated the consciousness industry since 1945. He considers his experience with Basic Books as a reflection of the symptoms of something systematically shutting down in the publishing industry.
