    • Abstract:
The article looks at Canadian women's abortion tourism, which the authors define as travel undertaken to obtain access to abortion services. According to the authors, abortion tourism is a transnational phenomenon which predates modern Canadian medical tourism, and can be considered medical tourism whether or not women cross international borders to access abortion services. It is suggested that women's participation in medical tourism deserves further scholarly attention because it demonstrates the ways in which gendered, geographic, and economic inequalities shape women's reproductive choices. Topics discussed include Canadian laws regarding abortion and extra-legal impediments to abortion including negative attitudes towards the procedure.
