      In this article, the authors express their opinion about science fiction conferences. The authors stresses the need for educational institutions to re-think and redevelop the concept of traditional academic conferences. They describes the success and concept of the conference, titled "Pippi to Ripley: The Female Figure in Fantasy and Science Fiction," held in April 2011. Information is also given on the highlights of their 2013 conference.
