    • Abstract:
We do not have definitive procedures for selecting the most effective classroom teachers from a group of applicants. However, numerous studies have indicated that one of the differentiating factors among teachers is their pattern of personality characteristics. This study stresses the importance of selecting motivated, well-adjusted teachers for our classrooms. The findings indicated that both the supervisors and the student teachers' pupils gave the highest ratings to those student teachers whose personality patterns indicated that their basic needs were met and that they were self-actualizing people. There is little doubt about the strong need in our society for teachers who are ready to effectively carry out the demanding activities inherent in the teaching profession. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
