    • Abstract:
It was hypothesized that attitudinally similar, potential foster parents would be evaluated more positively than attitudinally dissimilar ones. Each subject received a 16-item Survey of Attitudes (which evidenced either 25% or 75% agreement with subject's own attitudes) purportedly filled out by a potential foster parent. Subject then evaluated this stimulus potential foster parent on the following variables: effectiveness as a foster parent, providing a good environment, intelligence, morality, adjustment, likelihood of child abuse, personal liking, openmindness, feelings of ease, and being a good role model. The hypothesized effect of attitude similarity was confirmed for five of these evaluation variables. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
