    • Abstract:
The article discusses how Ronald Reagan vigorously spoke out on a variety of issues after failing to win the 1976 U.S. Republican presidential nomination and prior to his being elected president in 1980. Reagan's newspaper column and radio commentaries addressed foreign policy, taxes, and more. The author says former Florida governor Jeb Bush, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and other potential candidates for the presidency in 2016 should similarly make strong cases for their candidacies.
