    • Abstract:
      The article presents profiles of global artists, authors, architects, and filmmakers who were selected by the publication as leading global thinkers in 2013 for the power of their political statements. Artists profiled include Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie; Zimbabwean novelist NoViolet Bulawayo, whose real name is Elizabeth Tshele; and architect Zaha Hadid, winner of the Pritzker prize in architecture in 2004. Information is presented on Adichie's novel "Americanah", Bulawayo's novel "We Need New Names", and Hadid's design of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan.
