      The article surveys some works by feminist writers including Marilyn Yalom, Alison Winch and Andrea Bonior to explore ideas about philosophical tributes to friendship. It tackles issues such as relationality, political friendships across race, sisterhood among women of color and neo-liberal friendship. It notes that many of the writings reflect conservative norms that reinforce gender polarities, while some offer glimpses of new kinds of friendship that cross boundaries of sex, gender and age.
