    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the attitudes of women garment workers in Sri Lanka toward pornography. Their sexual behavior register through their new reading habits, thereby countering middle-class and male notions of respectability. The women's engagement with pornographic materials like Priyadari magazine, while being critical and transgressive, also ensures the continuation of both sexual and labor exploitation. The alternative critical space in which they engage also represents an accommodation to capitalist patriarchy. Moreover, this material objectifies and constructs them as women without shame and fear, thereby allowing men to justify violence against them.
