    • Abstract:
The article discusses the experiences of Jews living in Western Poland during the Jewish Holocaust of 1939-1945. It is suggested that since this region was the first to experience Nazi violence against Jews, there were few survivors and conditions there are not well known. Details on the targeted killing and abuse of Polish Jews, including accounts of public hangings and forced labor, are presented. Other topics include the destruction of synagogues, the so-called Germanization of Poland's culture and economy, and the deportation of Jews to concentration camps.
