The article studies the government plans for the resettlement of World War II European refugees in Alaska, as contained in a report from the U.S. Department of Interior. The study focuses on federal legislation envisioned to ease restrictions on refugees entering the state, supporters and opponents of the plans from the public and private sectors and, specifically, the changes in public attitudes toward post-war refugees are explored. Concluding, that there is a more positive response toward postwar displaced persons, primarily non-Jewish, than toward the prewar predominantly German- Jewish refugees.
