      The article reports on air pollution and its impact on respiratory health. It discusses a report from the National Commission of Macroeconomics and Health, Government of India which shows that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma are the major non-communicable diseases due to air pollution. It informs that the incidence of asthma in children increased from 9 percent in 1979 to 25.5 percent in 2009.
