      The article reports on the use of mass surveillance technology, through mobile applications, in China in order to control the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus as of February 2020. These include the deployment of color-coded Quick Response mobile application to fight swift spread of the disease, use of the Close Contact Detector mobile app from China Electronics Technology Group Corp., the Smart Assistant function on Huawei phones and a WeChat messaging app for tracking the disease.
