- Abstract: The article offers literary criticism of the novels "Midnight Robber" and "Brown Girl in the Ring," both by Nalo Hopkinson. Topics include the relation of Hopkinson's speculative fiction to issues of injustice, the relation of Hopkinson's work to Afrofuturism, and political aspects of fantasy as a genre. The role of realism in genre fiction is addressed.
