      The article reports that High-impact practices (HIPs), like mentored undergraduate research, first-year seminars, and community based learning, are widely recognized for their transformative potential and correlation with student retention. Topics include examines that several of the research seminars have focused on official HIPs and other focused on engaged learning pedagogies that are not formally designated HIPs but share characteristics with them.
