      The article presents information on the use of an author-study approach to children's literature that will help students analyze issues involving social justice. Details of a week-to-week plan for analyzing multiple texts from author studies are presented. The educational activity encourages students to use writing as a way of expressing their own values and beliefs on various social issues. The contexts of lesson objectives for the guidelines set by the National Council for the Social Studies are mentioned.
