      The author reflects on the pace of racial progress in the U.S. television and film industries through the 2010s. He speculates on the impact of the Obama Mirage, or the belief all social injustices for minorities was addressed by electing a black president, on how three recent popular films featured predominantly African American casts and filmmakers. He talks about how statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau found 40 percent of Americans were minorities but a fraction were writers or directors.
