    • Abstract:
The article focuses on ups and downs in the life of Woo Suk Hwang, "king of cloning" of South Korea. In May 2005, he announced that his team had made embryonic stem cells that were genetically tailored to individual patients. Hwang was no stranger to stem cell glory. He could create cloned embryonic stem cells. In August 2005, Hwang became the first to clone a dog. In November 2005, Hwang admitted that some of the eggs his lab used had been obtained from women in his own research group. Hwang resigned as the boss of the World Stem Cell Hub, a repository set up to share stem-cell lines and cloning technology.
