      This work is aimed at making a contribution to the development of communication skills, and communicative functions to communicate effectively by using one's mother tongue correctly. The main steps inherent to all communication, types of communication, communicative functions, and communication skills are examined. Communicative language teaching (CLT), or the communicative approach, is highlighted as an approach to language teaching that emphasizes interaction. There is need for communication to be seen as essential for students and people in general to perform well and succeed in life. That is why communication is studied once again here, because major aspects of it are still largely unknown, and not enough importance is attached to it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

      El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en contribuir al desarrollo de las habilidades y funciones comunicativas como desempeño fundamental del uso correcto de la lengua materna para el logro de una comunicación eficaz. Los referentes teóricos y metodológicos que sustentan este trabajo se basan en aspectos importantes de la comunicación, su conceptualización, funciones y habilidades, así como en el enfoque comunicativo como soporte metodológico para el accionar de los docentes. Comprender que la comunicación es un arte y una ciencia requiere de estudio y de conocimiento por parte de todos aquellos que hacen uso de ella con el fin de aportar a los estudiantes y a la sociedad en que se vive recursos lingüísticos para un mejor desempeño de las funciones. Una vez más es analizada ya que son insuficientes los conocimientos sobre aspectos básicos de la comunicación. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
