      The literary image of Juan Moreira was maintained, throughout the history of the Argentinean Literature, thanks to a discursive genealogy that recuperated and brought new meaning to the distinctive characteristics of the hero created by Eduardo Gutiérrez, in his serial of 1879. One of the main reasons of this permanency is its evident malleability to condense representative characteristics that made of him a hero of popular mythification. In this uninterrupted net of significances, Milongas de John Moreyra, a book of poems by Homero Expósito, appears in 1968. Our purpose is to analyze the revisions by Expósito to the literary image of Moreira, seen from a double perspective: the gauchesque literature tradition and the universe of the tango lyrics.       La figura literaria de Juan Moreira se sostuvo, en la historia de la literatura argentina, mediante una genealogía discursiva que recuperó y resemantizó los rasgos distintivos del héroe que Eduardo Gutiérrez había postulado, originariamente, en su folletín de 1879. Uno de los principales motivos de esta permanencia es su evidente maleabilidad para condensar matices identitarios representativos, que le permitieron convertirse en un héroe de mitificación popular. En esta red de significaciones sostenida se incorpora, en 1968, el poemario Milongas de John Moreyra de Homero Expósito. Es nuestro propósito, en este trabajo, analizar las recuperaciones —con su juego de reiteraciones y alteraciones significativas— que Expósito realizó al retomar a Moreira desde una doble perspectiva: la tradición gauchesca y el universo de las letras de tango.
