Otranto Road Library - In partnership with Trident United Way, as well as Berkeley and Dorchester County library systems, join us as we kickoff this nationwide challenge that encourages families to read at least 1,000 books with their young children before they enter Kindergarten. Reading aloud to children from birth helps strengthen language skills and build vocabulary -- two important tools for learning to read. Plus, sharing stories together is fun!

At the Kickoff Event:

• Register your child for the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

• Participate in fun early literacy activities for children, including playing in the pool noodle obstacle course, reading a book or two and adopting a stuffed animal reading buddy to take home, singing a song while playing some musical instruments, making fun crafts, and much more!

• Check out our great community partners who will be at the event such as Begin with Books, Charleston County First Steps, Trident United Way, and more!

Face coverings are recommended for this outdoor event.
