"Black Girl/Connection" by Brittany Alston
Saul Alexander Gallery at Main Library- Come check out June's gallery artist, Brittany Alston for her exhibition "Black Girl/Connections". Brittany is a self-taught photographer/visual artist. Brittany’s artwork has been featured in multiple exhibitions, a background actress on a TV Show, a runway photographer for Charleston Fashion Week, worked on film festivals, two of her artworks are on permanent display at Medical University of South Carolina, won 1st place for Professional Monochrome Photographer at North Charleston Arts Festival, etc.
Brittany is determined to not only make “beautiful” artwork, but she also wants to make artwork that will connect with the viewer and hopefully to awaken the unconscious mind to change the world for the better. The majority of her artworks are connected to the identity of who she is as a person. Brittany is constantly inspired by her awareness of her emotions, current events, and her perception of the world around her. Brittany’s viewpoint of her artistry is constantly changing, and she tries to reflect that by using her camera as her main discipline of work. Brittany is hoping that with her various forms of artistry she will ultimately expand into this huge body of work that will stand the test of times like other renowned artists. Brittany is forever evolving and grateful for any opportunity bestowed upon her.
