Blood Drive at Poe/Sullivan's Island Library

Blood is needed for lifesaving transfusions to treat trauma patients, premature babies, and patients with cancer, sickle cell disease, blood disorders, and other illnesses. There is no substitute for blood, and volunteer donors are the only source. The basic requirements for giving blood are for donors to be at least 16 with parental permission form, 110 pounds, and in general good health. The donation process takes about an hour from beginning to end. All donors will receive a $10 Walmart gift card and tote bag. All blood donations will help patients at Roper St. Francis Healthcare. You can schedule an appointment in advance on the Blood Connection's website. Walk-in donations are welcome.
