Join members of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus this summer for a celebration of American music and poetry! The CSOC will perform the complete Frostiana by Randall Thompson, encompassing seven complete Robert Frost poems in a choral setting. The chorus will also perform two pieces by Aaron Copland. Randall Thompson’s Frostiana was written in 1959 to celebrate the bicentennial of Amherst, Massachusetts, where Robert Frost lived for many years. Poems included in this calm, introspective work are:

  1. “The Road Not Taken”
  2. “The Pasture”
  3. “Come In”
  4. “The Telephone”
  5. “A Girl’s Garden”
  6. “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening”
  7. “Choose Something like a Star”

The Chorus will also perform two Aaron Copland pieces:

  1. “Long Time Ago,” from Old American Songs, Set 1.
  2. “The Promise of Living,” from The Tender Land
