Main Library - The Charleston County Public Library is partnering with the University of South Carolina’s S.C. Collaborative on Race and Reconciliation in hosting a special book club for teens in honor of Cynthia Graham Hurd. The year-long program, which is for teens in grades 6-12, will highlight literary works that focus on social justice issues and the book club will run between September 2019 and September 2020.

The Race and Reconciliation Collaborative will provide free copies of the book for the teens registered in the program. The participants will have about a month to read each book and then discuss the books at the Main Library, located at 68 Calhoun Street in Charleston.

This program is also in partnership with the Cynthia Graham Hurd Foundation, led by Malcolm Graham, Cynthia’s brother, and also possible by Melvin Graham, who is also the brother of Cynthia Graham Hurd.

Participants can pick up their copy of the book during the desginated month (see below) in the teen area of the Main Library and will meet the last Tuesday of the designated months (see below) at 5 p.m. in the teen area of the Main Branch.* Interested participants must register for the program below by Aug. 1, 2019
