Main Library - Throughout September - September 2019, I experienced my first hurricane. My only option was to shelter in place. Awaking, I began this series. The metaphors between the storm, the waiting, and the absence of men within my life pushed themselves through every space on my canvas. Entering my autumn years, this series pays tribute to my memories of manhood and the profound sadness of a life without love and family. It bears witness to the devastation the absence of manhood has had on our society. Among this destruction, my encounter with two men in Charleston, too uncommon to be considered rays of hope, are presented as swan songs of the manhood we once knew.
