CCPL's Facebook page - In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Mr. Toby, Children's Librarian, at the Baxter-Patrick James Island Branch Library will give a class on how to add symbolism into your drawings. Using the heroic history around the creation of the flag of Puerto Rico, and the recounting of some of the heroic actions atributed the 65th Infantry Division from Puerto Rico while fighting in the Korean War, Mr. Toby shows how simple colors, shapes and objects, when placed in the context of history, creates a work of art based in love, respect and a celebration of culture.

With this class, we hope to inspire your children, and parents too, to explore how to tell the story of their own family through imagery and maybe even making a flag representing your own household to share with us. Check out the attached images below for coloring ideas!
