Wando Mount Pleasant Library - Lua Wells is an advocate for a form of homeschooling called Unschooling. Instead of attending traditional school, her children's job as unschoolers was simply to figure out what they were interested in, and go for it. They had no set schedule, no curriculum, no homework, and no tests (until college, anyway). There was plenty of time for play and for exploring the world. With unschooling, one interest leads to the next, and learning happens naturally. Lua has given a TEDx talk on this subject called "Skipping School."

Interested members of the community are asked to join us in a safe space to converse with the Unschooling community. For more information on the Human Library Series at Charleston County Public Library, and to see previous sessions in their entirety, visit our section on the Human Library Series.
