John's Island Regional Library - Spend an afternoon with the Lowcountry Food Bank as they kick off their Summer Meals Program in South Carolina! Learn about how LCFB works to ensure children who face hunger during the summer, when school meals are not available, have a way to get food. Find details about the schedule and pop up picnic locations throughout the summer.

While learning about the food bank's summser services, you can enjoy an afternoon of fun at the John's Island Regional Library from 4 - 6 p.m. There will be fresh produce to pick up, a taco bar, a balloon artist, face painting, staff from the Barrier Island Free Medical Clinic, the South Carolina Stingrays, and even a DJ playing some great summer tunes! We'll have plenty of giveaways, too!

DID YOU KNOW: Nearly 80% of children who attend public school on Johns and Wadmalaw Island qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. Many of these children dread the last day of school because they will face a summer of hunger instead of fun.
