Main Library - On display this month in the Saul Alexander Gallery at Main Library is Olivia Beyer's collection, "Edgar: Find Your Inner Poe."

Olivia Beyer's love of Edgar Allan Poe started at a young age: she studied his works in school and as a hobby. His connection to the Lowcountry has always held a place in her heart, as she was born and raised here herself. While attending the Art Institute of Charleston, her passion for Poe melded with her passion for art and design.

Edgar: Find Your Inner Poe is a way of capturing his essence and tales with design and art. While her media range from paints to digital design, these works focus on watercolor paints applied and minipulated with brushes, syringes, air duster cans, and drinking straws.

The minimalistic shapes are based off some of Poe's most well-known writings. As a writer of the mysterious and macabre, Edgar Allan Poe is hailed not only as a true master of his craft but a pioneer of the genre. Poe's collection of work is unique to him and recognizable as a trademark of classical American literature.
