Full-time position for an energetic, team-orientated individual with customer service experience. Assist Adult Services with reference questions, collection maintenance, and planning and implementing in-branch and outreach programs. Along with the supervising Digital Resources Librarian, serve as technology support for digital resource usage to staff system-wide and to library patrons. Create pathfinders, guides, booklists and book displays and provide technology assistance and demonstrations. Perform routine desk duties under professional supervision; carries out procedures set by supervisory staff; help patrons locate and check out materials. Supervises one part-time library generalist.
Basic clerical and general office work. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments, including periodic supervisory duties of the entire facility. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree. Prefer public library experience. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud suite and computer programming for classes is a plus. Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff, a strong work ethic. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.
Hiring Salary Range: $38,833.60 – $43,763.20 annually depending on qualifications.
