Full-time position for an energetic, team-orientated individual with customer service experience. Under supervision of the Adult Services Manager, duties include assisting patrons with reference questions, performing collection maintenance, and planning and implementing in-branch and outreach programs, with an emphasis on programs for businesses, non-profits and on finding grants and Candid resources. Serves as Business Librarian and Candid representative for the library and maintains the Candid and grants materials. Work with local non-profit or public interest groups that promote entrepreneurship and grant assistance seeking to organizations. Will seek out and maintain partnerships for library programs. Position requires some public speaking or teaching of business and grants resources to groups or staff in small group or classroom settings. Supervises the Workforce Development Librarian and works as a team to maintain the career/workforce development center at the Main Library. Create pathfinder content, booklists and book displays and provide technology assistance and demonstrations, especially of business electronic databases. Perform routine desk duties and help patrons locate and check out materials. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service. Candidate will supervise at least one professional librarian and at least one library generalist. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments, including periodic supervisory duties of the entire facility. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree with one (1) year post-MLS experience. Supervisory experience preferred but not required. The ideal candidate would have business and non-profit experience, background or interest. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, and bending. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus.

Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification.

Hiring Salary Range: $50,169.60 - $56,513.60 annually commensurate with education and experience.
