Full time position. Under supervision of the Adult Services Manager, provide excellent customer service, reader’s advisory services, media assistance, and audiovisual support. Responsible for the Popular Materials area operations in the absence of the Adult Services Manager, and periodic supervisory duties of the entire facility. Create new and maintain existing programming to patrons at the Main Library, to include summer reading programs for adults and seniors. Curate and manage the Saul Alexander Gallery and lobby display area, and coordinate and provide outreach activities to local organizations and shelters. Compile statistical and narrative report data, administer timesheets and scheduling, and assist with Main Library meeting room reservations for the public and staff. Serve as the Main Library’s point of contact for adult programming and outreach initiatives. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Supervise one librarian, one library assistant, one library page position, volunteers, and summer youth workers. Coordinate area training, and serve at other service desks as needed. Assist with collection maintenance and development. Create booklists and book displays. Maintain library’s adult outreach collection. Serve on Tech Team’s Liaison Committee. Other duties as assigned. Must demonstrate knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of adult literature and materials, both print and electronic.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree with one (1) year post-MLS experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, and bending. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus.

Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Hiring Salary Range: $43,513.60 - $49,004.80 annually depending on qualifications.
