Full time entry-level position for an energetic, team-oriented librarian working under the direct supervision of the Assistant Branch Manager/Adult Services Manager. Duties include providing excellent customer service, reference services, and technology assistance in person, by telephone, and via instant messaging, email, and text. Responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining and promoting in-branch programming to all patrons at the Otranto Road Regional Library, including services to and programming for young adults. Duties will also include participating in outreach and delivery of library services to the community. Assist in training for staff and the public, serve at other service areas as needed, and assist with the overall collection maintenance and development. Collects and reports adult and young adult programming statistics to the Assistant Branch Manager/Adult Services Manager. Create booklists, book displays and other innovative methods of information delivery of library services. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Must be able to get along well with others and to communicate pleasantly and effectively with the general public and library staff, orally and in writing. Must demonstrate knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of adult and young adult materials, both print and electronic. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree. Library experience preferred but not required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, and bending. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus.

Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Hiring Salary Range: $38,833.60 - $43,763.20 annually depending on qualifications.
