Full-time position for an energetic, team-orientated individual with customer service experience. Duties include providing excellent customer service, reference services, and technology assistance, performing collection maintenance, and planning and implementing in-branch and outreach programs, with an emphasis on facilitating work readiness and job placement of adult patrons. This position is responsible for assessing customers’ needs and facilitating supportive services, designing classes and activities to develop employment skills, and increase employability, such as job-search classes, composing resumes and cover letters, completing job applications, interviewing etiquette, motivation, and general life skills to assist in removing barriers that may prevent successful employment. The Workforce Development Librarian serves as the Workforce Development Liaison representative for the Main Library, working collaboratively with other staff, partner agencies, social workers, and resource providers in the community, in order to increase the service capacity and offer referrals and support that ultimately lead to employment. This librarian maintains the Workforce Development Corner and related materials at the Main Library. Other duties include creating booklists, pathfinders, and book displays, assisting in area training, serving at other service areas as needed, performing routine desk duties, carrying out procedures set by supervisory staff, and helping patrons locate and check out materials. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service. Candidate may supervise one library generalist. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments, including periodic supervisory duties of the entire facility. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree. Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff, a strong work ethic. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Prior public library experience helpful but not required. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.

Hiring Salary Range: $38,833.60 – $43,763.20 annually depending on qualifications.
